Job Title: Success Coach

Job Summary:

The Success Coach is a vital role within the Alabama Community College System, responsible for identifying and supporting at-risk student populations to enhance their post-secondary educational opportunities. This position requires a strong understanding of career technical education programs and curriculum, as well as excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identify and monitor at-risk student populations to reduce or remove barriers to their educational success.
  • Develop and implement strategies to increase student engagement and retention in career technical education programs.
  • Provide advising and guidance to students, including credit momentum and connection to campus resources and opportunities.
  • Collaborate with prospective students to provide a seamless transition into career technical education programs.
  • Conduct program information sessions and create group advising modules to teach students about curricular options and course planning.
  • Work with students to prevent or resolve academic transfer credit issues.
  • Strengthen relationships with strategic college partners, including admissions, student services, financial aid, and other institutions.
  • Perform clerical functions, including coordinating content and assembly of information/application packets, and other areas as assigned.
  • Prepare reports for regulatory agencies as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Fifteen (15) semester hours in an area of career technical education preferred.
  • Three (3) years of experience in recruiting, instruction, curriculum, dual enrollment, counseling, career coaching, or administration at the K-12 level or higher education preferred.
  • Knowledge of CTE programs and curriculum.
  • Valid unexpired driver's license.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Proficient with standard computer programs and administrative software, including the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Knowledge of Alabama Community College System and Gadsden State Community College policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge of Gadsden State Community College degrees and certificate programs.
