Medical Laboratory Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Medical Laboratory Specialist to join our team at Lake Huron Medical Center, a 144-bed community hospital that provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient health care services to residents of St. Clair and Sanilac counties.
Responsibilities- Perform a wide variety of laboratory procedures requiring independent judgment using both manual and automated methods in Hematology, Blood Bank, Chemistry, Urinalysis, Coagulation, Microbiology, Immunology, and any other discipline as introduced into the laboratory.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of laboratory policies and procedures, adhering to all department and hospital policies and procedures related to safety, infection control, emergency preparedness, and human resources.
- Work collaboratively with other laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely test results, and participate in quality control and quality assurance activities.
- Perform venipuncture or capillary puncture on various age groups from newborn to geriatrics, and assist with the development and implementation of new laboratory procedures and technologies.
- Meet the requirements of Standard; Testing personnel qualifications.
- Have a current license issued by the State in which the laboratory is located, if such licensing is required.
- Have a bachelor's degree in chemical, physical, biological, or clinical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as stated in CLIA.
- Have one year of hospital laboratory work experience, preferably in a similar role.
