We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated individual to join our team as a Voter Engagement Ambassador. This is a part-time and temporary position that will run until November 8, 2024.

Job Summary

The Voter Engagement Ambassador will be responsible for conducting voter outreach and engagement efforts, specifically focusing on those with a criminal conviction and trans community members. The ideal candidate will be highly organized and dependable, thrive off of person-to-person contact, and be passionate about voter outreach and engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct voter engagement through door knocking, lit drops, know your rights voter education, and other voter engagement activities in a responsible and reliable manner.
  • Communicate daily with the Senior Organizer, attending scheduled meetings and/or trainings.
  • Reach weekly goals for voter outreach and engagement.
  • Ensure accurate data tracking of all work.
  • Provide accurate voter education information around important dates and voting rights through tabling, event-planning, door-to-door canvassing, and other direct voter contact methods.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community leaders and organizations, partners, and key stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for advocacy and organizing efforts.
Qualifications
  • Personally committed to advancing the ACLU's values, mission, goals, and programs, with an understanding of the range of civil rights and civil liberties issues and their implications.
  • Commitment to civic engagement and a desire to build the power of marginalized communities.
  • Comfortable engaging people of diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with voter outreach and engagement is a plus.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • A flexible team player who works collaboratively and shares responsibility and credit.
  • A commitment to diversity; a personal approach that values the individual and respects differences of race, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, ability and socio-economic circumstance.
  • An energetic person who can handle and prioritize multiple activities and responsibilities with strong time management skills and the ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong organizational skills. A self-starter and finisher with a demonstrated ability to manage details and follow-through with minimal direct supervision.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral. A positive, confident, professional, and outgoing presentation.
  • Willingness and ability to speak in public and to facilitate meetings and trainings.
  • Willingness to travel and work flexible or irregular hours, including some weekends.
  • Access to reliable transportation.
Compensation and Benefits

This is a part-time and temporary position that will run until November 8, 2024. Ambassadors must be available to work 15-20 hours per week, including some evenings and weekends. Compensation is $20/hour. Mileage reimbursement will be provided.
