Job Summary

The Orthopedic Technician provides professional and competent assistance to physicians in the clinic. This role is responsible for the application and management of casts, splints, and braces for orthopedic patients. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and be able to educate patients regarding proper care and treatment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides professional and competent assistance to physicians with the application and management of casts for orthopedic patients
  • Educates patients regarding casts, splints, or braces following application
  • Collects and records patients' medical history and acquires patient vital signs
  • Advises patients regarding treatment, medication, and specific physician instructions
  • Collects lab samples and completes documentation for submission to lab
  • Monitors inventory of and obtains necessary supplies and/or equipment for patient care in orthopedic unit
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
  • One (1) year direct patient care experience or enrollment in a healthcare related educational program (Medical Assistant, Nursing School, or Med School)
  • Medical Assistant or Orthopedic Tech experience preferred
