Key Responsibilities
Oversee all aspects of food preparation as assigned. Provide guidance to kitchen staff and ensure that all departmental standards are upheld. Prepare, cook, season, and portion meals for residents, staff, and visitors, adhering to dietary guidelines and menu specifications. Maintain food quality standards in terms of appearance, taste, temperature, and sanitation. Conduct cleaning and washing duties to ensure a hygienic cooking and serving environment. Manage the labeling and storage of food items, equipment, and machinery. Strive to deliver the highest quality and safest food to all stakeholders.
Collaborate with various internal teams, requiring strong communication and teamwork skills. Demonstrate the ability to thrive in a dynamic culinary setting.
Follow standardized recipes and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) protocols for food preparation, storage, and usage. Document HACCP procedures, temperatures, and outcomes to ensure food safety while adhering to daily and weekly menu production sheets. Operate kitchen equipment, including mixers, slicers, ovens, stovetops, grills, and dishwashers.
Exhibit the ability to work independently when necessary. Understand food safety and sanitation practices. Display basic math skills for accurate measurements and demonstrate proficiency in reading and interpreting recipes. Be prepared to be on your feet for extended periods and navigate throughout the facility.
Qualifications
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
Ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions. Basic math skills are necessary. A minimum of two years of experience in a culinary role and previous leadership experience is preferred. On-the-job training will be provided.
Depending on the location, ServSafe certification may be required within a specified timeframe.
