Job Description

MP Materials Corp. is seeking a highly skilled Instrumentation Technician to join our team. As an Instrumentation Technician, you will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining all instrumentation equipment, including electrical test equipment, pH probes, level transmitters, pressure transmitters, flow meters, and related equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and wire instrumentation equipment, including pH probes, level transmitters, and flow meters.
  • Diagnose and repair low voltage electrical, electronic, and instrumentation malfunctions.
  • Troubleshoot and repair a wide range of instrumentation, including temperature, flow, proximity, pressure, valves, gas sensors, and pH.
  • Perform preventive, predictive, and routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal equipment performance.

Requirements:

  • Associate degree or equivalent certification as an Instrumentation Technician.
  • 3+ years of experience in a chemical plant, heavy industrial, or mine environment.
  • Experience with DCS and PLC control systems.
  • Experience with reliability-based maintenance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC programs and calibrate instruments.
  • Strong collaboration skills and ability to work in teams.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to learn new duties.
  • Ability to complete tasks with minimal supervision.

Working Conditions:

The Instrumentation Technician will work in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to moving mechanical parts, toxic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.

Physical Demands:

The Instrumentation Technician will be required to stand, use hands and fingers, talk, and hear. The employee will occasionally be required to walk, reach with arms and hands, climb or balance, and to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Vision abilities required by this job include close vision. The employee must pass a full-face respiratory fit test and be able to lift 50 lbs.
