Adventist HealthCare is seeking an experienced Behavioral Health Coordinator to join our Emergency Services Department. As a Behavioral Health Coordinator, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our behavioral health services.
Key Responsibilities- Present clinical assessments to psychiatrists in a concise and accurate manner to determine appropriate patient placement.
- Collaborate with evaluating clinicians and referral sources to facilitate admissions to behavioral health units.
- Provide clinical information to charge nurses for patients admitted to in-patient units.
- Contact managed care representatives, third-party payers, primary physicians, and other relevant individuals to provide clinical and demographic information required for insurance verification and authorization.
- Answer incoming phone calls from individuals and providers requesting acute clinical services for psychiatry to determine appropriate levels of care and refer patients to external services when necessary.
- Schedule clinical evaluations in the Electronic Medical Record.
- Provide clinical triage services to the Emergency Department, Needs Assessment Center office, and other hospital departments as needed.
- Document all calls in the tracking log and record patient dispositions on the department cover sheet.
- Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, Sociology, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in the mental health field.
- Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
PRN availability to cover shifts during call-outs or planned PTO. 8- or 12-hour shifts during weekdays (7:00am-5:30pm or 12pm-8:30pm). 12-hour shifts during weekends (7am-7:30pm).
