Lactation Consultant Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Lactation Consultant to join our team at Cone Health. As a lactation coach, consultant, and teacher, you will work collaboratively with staff and providers to develop feeding plans for newborns.

Working under close supervision, you will use current lactation theories and research to develop holistic, evidence-based breastfeeding support and feeding plans that address individual feeding issues.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with other Women's and Infant's services professionals and care teams to develop evidence-based feeding plans.
  • Conduct breastfeeding assessments and implement breast feeding plans with the support of hospital staff.
  • Provide lactation support and consultation services to breastfeeding mothers/infants by physician or nurse referral.
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and evaluating patient education resources and programs.
  • Support leading evidence-based breastfeeding classes and breastfeeding support groups.
Requirements:
  • Certification by International Board of Lactation Consultation Examiners (IBLCE)
  • BLS (CPR)-American Red Cross or AHA Healthcare Provider
  • Associate's Degree (Preferred: Bachelor's Degree)
  • 1 year of experience
