Mental Health Worker

We are seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Worker to join our team at Sheppard Pratt. As a key member of our inpatient psychiatric program for children and adolescents, you will play a vital role in providing patient-centered care and promoting a positive, non-punitive atmosphere.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct care to patients, including lifting, moving, and assisting, while maintaining a calm and professional demeanor.
- Contribute to treatment planning and adhere to all Sheppard Pratt and host hospital policies and procedures.
- Effectively communicate with patients, families, and staff, utilizing evidence-based assessments and patient interventions.
- Participate in patient-centered care training and adhere to all Joint Commission, Regulatory, and host hospital standards.
- Work collaboratively with the treatment team to ensure seamless care and promote a positive work environment.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mental Health or Human Services-related field preferred.
- Experience working with children and adolescents in an inpatient setting is preferred.
- Knowledge of child and adolescent assessment skills, behavior modification techniques, and theories.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, with the ability to develop a therapeutic relationship while maintaining professional boundaries.
This position requires regular standing, bending, walking, and lifting, as well as the ability to participate in physical restraints of patients and perform all aspects of Basic Life Support (BLS). The work environment is a locked inpatient psychiatric program for children and adolescents aged four through seventeen that operates 24 hours/day, seven days a week.
Must possess adequate strength and stamina to work on their feet for the work day and be able to recognize patient care problems as they arise. May be exposed to violent/aggressive behavior, communicable diseases, blood/body fluids, and hazardous waste.
