Job Summary

The Pre-Analytical Assistant will be responsible for providing general support functions within the Technical Operations Department, including specimen handling, processing, and delivery. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of specimen types, clinical department requirements, and compliance regulations related to test ordering.

Key Responsibilities
  • Sort and rack specimens for laboratory testing
  • Pickup and delivery of specimens to the laboratory
  • Specimen storage and retrieval
  • Centrifugation and aliquoting
  • Identify and resolve problems with specimen types and missing information
  • Develop an understanding of how all functions in Tech Ops and Specimen Processing work together and impact Technical departments and result quality
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Medical background preferred with medical terminology applicable to a clinical laboratory
  • Previous experience in a production environment preferred
  • Familiarity with mainframe computers
  • Good organizational skills and ability to multitask
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work in a biohazard environment and maintain a clean and organized workspace
Working Conditions

The Pre-Analytical Assistant will work in a fast-paced production environment with a focus on quality and productivity. The ideal candidate will be able to sit, stand, or walk for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds. The work schedule will be Sunday-Thursday, 8 am to 4:30 pm.
