Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - PRN

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team at the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office. As a PRN (as needed) LPN, you will provide high-quality nursing care to inmates in a correctional setting.

Job Summary:

The LPN will work under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Nursing, RN Clinical Supervisor, and/or Registered Nurse to evaluate inmates' healthcare needs and provide necessary and appropriate nursing care while observing all security requirements.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate inmates' healthcare needs and provide necessary and appropriate nursing care
  • Administer medications and assist in the planning and formulation of nursing care plans
  • Observe, record, and report symptoms, reactions, and changes in the conditions of all inmates
  • Provide care based on inmate need/condition
  • Triage inmates for sick call and refer to an RN or upper-level provider as needed
  • Render care and treatment according to protocol
  • Attend staff meetings and educational classes as required by the license and accreditation standards
  • Assist with the orientation of new members and maintain confidentiality of all inmate healthcare interactions
  • Maintain logs and prepare accurate statistics and other reports as directed
  • Assist with the reordering and stocking of supplies and maintain a clean work area
  • Respond to emergencies with all necessary equipment
  • Participate in Sheriff's Office recruitment and community relations activities as directed
Requirements:
  • High School graduation or equivalent diploma from an institution accredited by an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (DOE)
  • Graduation from an accredited licensed practical nursing program
  • Licensed as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the State of Florida
  • Maintain appropriate, unrestricted credentials according to the licensure, certification, and registration requirements of the jurisdiction
  • Satisfactory completion of 30+ hour IV Certification
  • CPR-BLS or ACLS Certification
  • Must possess a valid Florida driver's license
Working Conditions:

This position is located within the jail and requires the ability to work in a correctional setting. The LPN must be able to climb stairs for fire drills, Code 99, and other purposes, and have full range of motion to administer medical attention and perform CPR on the floor and in other confined areas.
