Victim Restitution Specialist

The County of Riverside is seeking a skilled professional to fill the Victim Restitution Technician II position in their Victim Restitution and Resources Unit. This role is responsible for interviewing and working with victims, defendants, and clients, providing resource information to the public, and managing a high-volume caseload.
Key Responsibilities- Analyze crime reports for victim loss information and interpret court minutes and other legal resources.
- Communicate the rights and responsibilities of crime victims and offenders by letter, telephone contact, or personal interview.
- Explain regulations and legal obligations to offenders and make recommendations to the court regarding victim restitution.
- Gather and provide information to be used in obtaining legally valid court orders for restitution.
- Represent the department in collaborative criminal justice meetings and testify in court occasionally.
- Graduation from high school or attainment of a satisfactory score on a G.E.D. test.
- Two years of experience performing collections activities, including gathering financial information and scheduling account payments, or one year as a County of Riverside Revenue and Recovery Technician I.
- Possession of a valid California Driver's License.
- Ability to type at least 40 words per minute.
- Knowledge of the basic methods and techniques used in case management, report writing, laws, regulations, and codes pertaining to the civil and or criminal justice system.
