Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated CT Technologist to join our team at NCH. As a CT Technologist, you will be responsible for operating computerized tomography (CT) scanners to produce high-quality images for radiologists and physicians to diagnose patients' injuries and/or study body systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare patients for procedures, instruct them on examination protocols, and position them according to procedure protocols.
  • Explain examination procedures to patients, respond to their questions, and utilize AIDET concepts in all customer interactions.
  • Obtain and provide clinical information and patient history to radiologists for all patient procedures.
  • Administer radiographic contrast media by intravenous injection according to infection control/universal precautions guidelines.
  • Operate CT scanners to provide radiologists with optimum quality images, communicate radiologists' preliminary interpretations to appropriate individuals as applicable, and schedule patients as needed.
  • Maintain order and sanitary conditions of work environments, check operating conditions of equipment, ensure cleanliness of exam rooms, stock and maintain supplies, and supervise the activities of students assigned to the work area.
  • Assume responsibility for own professional growth by attending Continuing Education classes, seminars, and reading professional journals.
  • Adhere to departmental and hospital safety standards to maintain a safe patient care and/or working environment.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited school in Radiologic Technology.
  • ARRT certification in CT and current registration.
  • Current Illinois Emergency Management Agency license.
  • Knowledge of and/or experience in the correct use of body mechanics.
  • CPR certification through American Heart Association.
  • The interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with patients who may be anxious or confused and to interact with physicians and other hospital staff.
  • The analytical ability to determine proper patient positioning and scanning parameters based on suspected pathology, patient size and age, and other controlling factors.
  • The written and verbal communication skills necessary to document patient procedures, inform patients regarding procedures, and communicate radiologists' interpretation.
  • The ability to maintain a flexible work schedule and fulfill on-call responsibilities.
