Job Title: Technical Specialist

Sovah Health - Danville is seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to join our laboratory team. As a key member of our clinical chemistry department, you will be responsible for providing technical oversight and leadership to ensure the highest quality of patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify patient and specimen identification before performing any procedure.
  • Evaluate and implement appropriate test methodologies for clinical use, collaborating with staff to develop practice guidelines.
  • Utilize quality assurance and process improvement plans to improve new or existing processes, promoting customer satisfaction.
  • Maintain specialty knowledge to collaborate with laboratory staff, physicians, and nursing staff on appropriate use of medical technology.
  • Develop and implement quality control programs to ensure reliability of testing procedures and compliance with federal regulations.
  • Resolve technical problems and ensure remedial actions are taken and documented.
  • Perform competency assessments and identify training needs, developing in-service and educational programs.
  • Determine and coordinate daily staffing assignments and levels, providing direction and orientation to staff.
  • Perform or assist with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions, ensuring staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science required, Master's degree preferred.
  • Graduate of a Program in Medical Laboratory Science required.
  • Medical Laboratory Science (MLS) American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) certification required.
