Manager of Patient Financial Operations

This role involves the supervision of the Refunds, Patient Advocates, and Self-Pay Collection teams. The manager will be tasked with authorizing all refunds and overseeing both self-pay and third-party refund processes. Furthermore, the manager will lead the self-pay collectors, patient advocates, manage incoming calls, resolve statement discrepancies, and develop budget strategies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Formulate and refine staff job descriptions. Assess employee performance and provide constructive feedback as required.
- Keep the Director/Assistant Director of Patient Financial Services updated on operational developments and suggest enhancements.
- Execute customer service strategies within the Patient Accounting/Collections Department.
- Oversee the ARCTR Credit Balance Report and Budget Plan Reports.
- Direct Patient Advocates and Self-Pay collectors, manage overflow calls, and resolve customer service challenges.
- Authorize and resolve all refund requests, uphold collection standards, and assist staff with inquiries or issues.
- Comprehend billing and collection policies, financial service codes, transaction codes, denial codes, and primary/secondary payers.
- Challenge and resolve denied claims, follow up with insurance providers, and accurately document all interactions.
- Maintain remittance advices/EOBs and organize ongoing training sessions for staff.
- Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline or equivalent professional experience.
- Proven supervisory skills along with knowledge of medical and insurance terminology.
- Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
- Proficiency in mainframe computer systems, basic accounting, and administrative skills.
- Strong customer relations, problem-solving, technical aptitude, and adaptability.
- Moderate physical demands involving walking, sitting, standing, and occasional lifting.
- Work in a well-lit, climate-controlled environment with flexible hours.
