Position Overview

Our laboratory is pleased to present an internship opportunity for individuals interested in a Laboratory Support role. We seek candidates who can dedicate 20 hours per week throughout the upcoming fall semester. This is a compensated internship position.

The Laboratory Support Technician will undertake a variety of assistance tasks for Lab Technicians and Analysts, ensuring optimal quality by adhering to SGS' Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Technician will work both independently and collaboratively to ensure the timely completion of all assigned responsibilities. Safety in the laboratory is paramount, and the Technician will maintain a secure working environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the issuance of supplies from the inventory.
  • Ensure a sufficient stock of accessories, consumables, and chemicals in each laboratory to promote operational efficiency.
  • Handle the disposal of samples after the designated retention period.
  • Record data in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and manage the disposal of expired or depleted chemicals.
  • Prepare non-treated in-house media.
  • Decontaminate and clean laboratory glassware and equipment, following established SOPs.
  • Perform administrative duties as required.
  • Comply with internal standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Execute additional tasks as necessary.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma (Required)
  • High school diploma with 1-2 years of general work experience (Preferred)
  • Proficient English language skills (Required)
  • Basic reasoning and mathematical skills (Required)
  • Basic computer proficiency (Required)
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and/or pull weights of up to 25 lbs on a frequent basis (Required)
