Clinical Transporter

Under the direction of the Patient Care Supervisor, the Clinical Transporter is responsible for the safe transportation of patients and participates in total direct patient care when needed. This role requires the ability to work therapeutically in a community of emotionally and/or chemically dependent patients. Primary responsibilities include transporting patients, patient belongings, and assisting with basic patient care on the units. The Clinical Transporter must maintain patient safety, assist patients with activities of daily living, and meet team objectives. This role also involves transporting patients to and from destinations, delivering labs, medications, and supplies within the Forrest Health system, and distributing linens throughout Pine Grove's patient care areas. Additionally, the Clinical Transporter will occasionally distribute mail and other supplies, equipment, or furniture as needed to other departments. The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently and as part of a team, and be able to tolerate physically demanding tasks and wide temperature ranges.
Performance Expectations:- Demonstrate the ability to follow through on requests for transports and other tasks as assigned
- Demonstrate the ability to assist patients, family members, and visitors
- Demonstrate the ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks of moving equipment, supplies, and patient belongings
- Demonstrate the ability to tolerate wide ranges in temperature changes throughout the transportation process
- Demonstrate the willingness and ability to actively participate in helping achieve the objectives of the department
- Demonstrate the ability to complete all required trainings and/or certifications and attend all required meetings
- Demonstrate the ability to be flexible with changing priorities and collaborate with the Patient Care Supervisor to make decisions that are ethically and legally sound
Education/Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Customer service skills, good communication skills, and transportation experience preferred
Work Experience:
- One year experience in a healthcare setting desirable
Certification/Licensure:
- Valid Driver's License
- Basic Life Support
- Defensive Driving Course
- Handle with Care
