Job Summary: Under the direction of the Patient Care Supervisor, the Clinical Assistant provides safe transportation of patients and participates in total direct patient care when needed. This role requires the ability to work therapeutically in a community of emotionally and/or chemically dependent patients. Responsibilities include transporting patients, patient belongings, and assisting with basic patient care as needed. The Clinical Assistant must observe patients, maintain patient safety, and assist with activities of daily living. They will also participate in the transportation and delivery of patients, labs, medications, and supplies within the Forrest Health system. Additionally, they will be responsible for distributing linens, mail, and other supplies as needed. The Clinical Assistant must have the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served. They will also be responsible for maintaining vehicles, completing departmental paperwork, and reports. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, customer service skills, and transportation experience. They must also be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Performance Expectations:

  • Demonstrate the ability to follow through on requests for transports and other tasks as assigned
  • Demonstrate the ability to assist patients, family members, and visitors
  • Demonstrate the ability to tolerate physically demanding tasks of moving equipment, supplies, and patient belongings
  • Demonstrate the ability to tolerate wide ranges in temperature changes throughout the transportation process
  • Demonstrate the willingness and ability to actively participate in helping achieve the objectives of the department
  • Demonstrate the ability to complete all required trainings and/or certifications and attend all required meetings
  • Demonstrate the ability to be flexible with changing priorities and collaborate with the Patient Care Supervisor to make decisions that are ethically and legally sound


Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Customer service skills, good communication skills, and transportation experience preferred
  • One year experience in a healthcare setting desirable

  • Valid Driver's License
