Boating Education Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Boating Education Assistant to join our team at the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection. As a seasonal employee, you will play a critical role in promoting clean and safe boating practices throughout the state.
Key Responsibilities- Interact with boaters at various launch sites to educate them on clean boating practices, including pumpout locations, aquatic invasive species information, and safety equipment usage.
- Conduct vessel safety checks using guidelines developed by the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary.
- Encourage boaters to sign the Clean Boater Pledge and discuss the Clean Boater Action Guide.
- Perform light maintenance at boat launches and report on their condition.
- Submit weekly summaries detailing the use of boat launches.
- Assist with public outreach events as needed.
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Knowledge of boating practices and regulations.
- Ability to work weekends and holidays.
- Experience in boating education or a related field.
- Knowledge of aquatic invasive species and their impact on the environment.
Incumbents in this class must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and be able to lift up to 25 pounds. The position requires frequent travel to various boat launch sites throughout the state.
