Responsibilities
Job Summary / Purpose

The Therapeutic Radiology Specialist is responsible for administering radiation therapy to patients for therapeutic purposes. This role requires a strong focus on patient care and safety, utilizing problem-solving and critical thinking skills in the execution of treatment protocols, tumor localization, and dosimetry. The specialist will maintain accurate patient records and ensure adherence to radiation protection principles for patients and staff alike.

Key Responsibilities
  • Implement treatment plans as prescribed by radiation oncologists, ensuring precise radiation dosage delivery.
  • Utilize simulators and imaging technology to accurately localize treatment areas.
  • Develop tailored patient treatment plans based on localization data.
  • Communicate procedures clearly to patients.
  • Position patients appropriately on treatment couches.
  • Identify anatomical landmarks and outline treatment areas accurately.
  • Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals and contribute to enhancing clinical safety.
  • Provide on-call services as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience

  • Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • Registered with the ARRT (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists).
  • State licensure is mandatory.
  • BLS certification required within the first month of employment.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training

In-depth knowledge of radiation oncology techniques, oncologic pathology, anatomy, physiology, treatment planning, and dosimetry is essential. Familiarity with departmental equipment and computer systems is also required.
