Job Description

This 3-week full-time program offers a stipend of $375 per week, all travel costs covered, and housing and meals provided during the program duration. You will work on a variety of projects that help protect, preserve, and restore natural and cultural resources of the Forest Service and participating partners.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Trail maintenance and habitat management
  • Climate change resilience and fire-dependent ecology
  • Invasive species removal and site beautification

As a participant, you will have the opportunity to develop collaboration and leadership skills, learn about cultural and natural resource management careers, and explore outdoor activities such as backpacking, biking, climbing, fishing, hiking, kayaking, swimming, and more.

Benefits

We offer a competitive salary of $12,750 for the 3-week program, which includes all travel costs, housing, and meals. Additionally, you will receive:

Requirements

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be at least 15 years old by June 1st of the program year
  • Not be older than 18 years old before August 31st of the program year
  • Be enrolled in school or a 2024 graduate
  • Have a valid U.S. Social Security number or have applied for one
  • Be able to obtain a work permit as required under applicant's home state laws
  • Be a citizen of the United States or permanent resident

Physical requirements include being able to hike 5 miles a day, perform up to 35 hours of physical labor, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds.
