Job Summary

CONMED Corporation is seeking a highly skilled Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Research and Development team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and troubleshooting electrical and electro-mechanical modules, circuit boards, and systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop system and board level requirements, architecture, conceptual designs, design verification protocols, test plans, test reports, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot electrical and electro-mechanical modules, circuit boards, and systems.
  • Manage FPGA development, simulation, verification, and documentation.
  • Conduct/participate in design reviews, present results of formal analysis, generate project progress reports, and investigation summaries.
  • Participate in medical compliance and safety certification for various electrical systems.
  • Work with cross-functional development teams to develop new medical equipment and sustain engineering activities.
  • Manage sub-projects and provide technical oversight of internal and external resources.
  • Design and coordinate the construction of manufacturing test fixtures for production manufacturing.
  • Perform sustaining engineering activities and continued support for existing products.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in engineering or related field.
  • 7+ years of relevant work experience for Senior Engineer position.
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience for Principal Engineer position.
  • Prior medical device experience.
  • Strong background in embedded real-time system design.
  • Excellent written communication skills.
  • Track record of completing development projects on-time and on-budget with incremental deliverables.
  • Good balance of theoretical and practical experience.
  • Working knowledge of CAD tools, including Schematic Capture and Layout.
  • 5-7 years' experience designing and implementing 8, 16, or 32-bit embedded processors in a commercial/medical environment.
  • Working knowledge of C or C++ programming in an embedded environment.
  • Serial communication experience.
  • Verilog/VHDL and latest FPGA architectures.
