Job Title: Histology Technician

Inova Health System is seeking a skilled Histology Technician to join our team in Annandale, Virginia.

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to assist in the preparation and processing of tissue samples for pathological examination. The successful candidate will be responsible for cutting, staining, and preparing tissue samples, as well as maintaining accurate records and adhering to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare tissue samples for pathological examination by cutting, staining, and embedding.
  • Maintain accurate records of all tests performed, including variance forms and process specimen logs.
  • Ensure that tissue samples are properly oriented and embedded according to standard operating procedures.
  • Communicate with laboratory staff and pathologists to ensure timely and accurate results.
  • Meet productivity and quality standards, including cutting 35-40 quality cassettes per hour and producing 20-25 quality slides per hour.
Requirements:
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1 year of experience in histology or a related field, or successful completion of Inova's Histology Tech Trainee program.
  • ASCP HT/HTL certification is preferred, but not required.
