Position Overview: The MRI Technologist operates magnetic resonance imaging systems and associated apparatus to obtain specific images as directed by a physician, facilitating accurate patient diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts MRI scans of various body parts including the brain, spine, and extremities, skillfully adjusting scanning parameters to accommodate diverse patient anatomies. Enhances image quality through the selection and modification of technical factors, employing advanced imaging techniques.
  • Selects suitable equipment for scanning procedures, ensuring optimal use of body coils and other necessary tools.
  • Adheres closely to physician directives, preparing and managing MRI machinery, positioning patients accurately, and capturing the required diagnostic images effectively.
  • Recognizes significant pathology within the human body and modifies T1 and T2 scanning parameters to deliver essential information for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Executes Diffusion studies, MR Angiograms, and performs image reformats and MIP imaging.
  • Utilizes magnetic resonance technology while adjusting parameters to minimize exposure risks to both patients and self.
  • Follows established protocols, employing scanning techniques that include window and contrast levels, scanning time sequences, and thickness adjustments.
  • Responsible for the photography, archiving, and retrieval of imaging data.
  • Conducts quality control checks on procedures and equipment, documenting any system failures and coordinating necessary service interventions.
  • Certified to initiate and remove IV lines for contrast studies in accordance with departmental policies, and is trained to identify and respond to IV contrast reactions.
  • Proficient in operating an IV Contrast Power Injector.
  • Ensures accurate patient identification, reviews requisitions and previous studies for consistency, and records relevant data on MRI requisitions.
  • Conducts thorough screening of patients prior to their entry into the MRI system room.
  • Reviews completed examinations for technical precision, presenting findings to the radiologist and communicating essential information to the care team post-procedure.
  • Identifies anatomical orientation on all necessary images and ensures proper identification on all films.
  • Complies with all organizational and operational policies and procedures.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiology or a related field.
  • Registered with the ARRT, as required by state regulations or contract specifications.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a related field is preferred.
  • Adheres to all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participation in Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as required.
  • Current health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
  • Must fulfill all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to the job site.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of effectively conveying information to supervisors, colleagues, and clients; proficiency in English is required.
  • Computer proficiency is essential.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
