Position Overview: The MRI Technologist operates magnetic resonance imaging scanners and associated apparatus to obtain precise images as prescribed by a physician, facilitating patient diagnosis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducts MRI scans of various body parts including the brain, spine, and extremities, adapting scanning parameters for diverse patient body types. Adjusts technical factors to optimize image quality using advanced imaging techniques.
  • Selects suitable equipment for scanning, particularly body coils, ensuring optimal functionality.
  • Adheres closely to physician directives, prepares and manages MRI machinery, positions patients accurately, and captures the required diagnostic images.
  • Recognizes significant anatomical abnormalities and modifies T1 and T2 scanning parameters to deliver critical information for diagnostic interpretation.
  • Executes Diffusion studies, MR Angiograms, and performs image reformats and MIP imaging.
  • Utilizes magnetic resonance technology while adjusting parameters to reduce exposure risks for both patients and staff.
  • Follows established protocols, employing scanning techniques that include window and contrast levels, scanning time sequences, and image reconstruction.
  • Responsible for photographing, archiving, and retrieving imaging data.
  • Conducts quality control checks on procedures and equipment, documenting any system failures and coordinating necessary service interventions.
  • Certified to initiate and discontinue IV lines for contrast studies in accordance with departmental policies, while also identifying and responding to IV contrast reactions.
  • Proficient in operating an IV Contrast Power Injector.
  • Ensures accurate patient identification, reviews requisitions and previous studies for consistency, and records relevant data on MRI requisitions.
  • Conducts thorough screenings of patients prior to their entry into the MRI system room.
  • Reviews completed examinations for technical precision, presents findings to the radiologist, and communicates essential information to the patient care team post-procedure.
  • Ensures proper anatomical orientation and identification on all required images.
  • Complies with all organizational and operational policies and procedures.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Radiology or a related field.
  • Registered with the ARRT, as mandated by state regulations or contractual obligations.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in a relevant field is preferred.
  • Adheres to all applicable professional standards of practice.
  • Completion of the organization's Competency program when required.
  • Current CPR certification, if applicable.
  • TB Questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray as necessary.
  • Valid Health certificate as per contract or state regulations.
  • Must fulfill all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training relevant to the job site.
  • Understanding of patient confidentiality and HIPAA regulations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively exchange information with supervisors, colleagues, and clients; proficiency in English is essential.
  • Required computer proficiency.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
