Job Summary

Under limited supervision, the Park Enforcement Officer is responsible for performing security and law enforcement functions within the Oakland County Parks. This role involves enforcing state laws and local ordinances, responding to emergency situations, and providing first response services until local units arrive.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce state laws and local ordinances within the Oakland County Parks
  • Respond to emergency situations, including accidents, property damage, and disturbances
  • Provide first response services, including emergency first aid and fire-fighting
  • Supervise trusty work details assigned inside the Parks
  • Utilize current Countywide and/or department-specific software to complete assignments
Minimum Qualifications
  • Be a high school graduate or have a certificate of successful completion of the General Education Development (G.E.D.) Test
  • Possess current MCOLES license or be currently attending a Police Academy training or its equivalent
  • Possess a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license
  • Have not been convicted of a violation of criminal law, including domestic violence
  • Have at least 20/20 corrected vision in both eyes and have normal color vision and depth perception in both eyes
  • Have normal corrected hearing in each ear
  • Pass the complete examination, including the employment physical established for this classification
Special Requirements
  • Maintain a valid United States motor vehicle operator's or chauffeur's license
  • Maintain firearms qualification and deputy status
  • Pass a field investigation covering an evaluation of employment, school, home, credit, criminal, military, or other personal records
