We are seeking highly skilled and compassionate individuals to join our team as Emergency Medical Dispatchers at The City of Austin - Austin Travis County EMS. As a key member of our emergency response team, you will play a vital role in providing critical care and support to individuals in crisis.
Key Responsibilities- Emergency Call-Taking and Dispatching: Respond to emergency 911 calls, assess situations, and dispatch emergency medical services as needed.
- Medical Triage and Assessment: Evaluate medical complaints, assess life threats, and provide medical care and interventions over the phone.
- Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Develop strong communication skills to effectively interact with callers, emergency responders, and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge and Skills: Possess knowledge of emergency medical call-taking, emergency telecommunications operations, and pre-hospital emergency medical care and rescue.
- Education and Certification: High school diploma or equivalent, and certification as an Emergency Medical Technician-Basic (EMT-B) or higher.
- Language Skills: Fluency in English, with the ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced emergency environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in operating public safety communications equipment, computers, and related software applications.
