We are seeking a skilled Yard Associate to join our team at Dry Box, Inc. in Portland. The ideal candidate should be physically fit and able to lift 75+ pounds, with basic welding experience, and experience operating large machinery, preferably with forklifts. Basic computer skills are required.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and repair all company containers to ensure optimal condition and functionality.
- Keep accurate maintenance records and adhere to all safety protocols to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.
- Perform basic welding tasks as needed to repair and maintain containers.
- Operate forklifts and other large machinery to efficiently move containers within the yard.
- Properly inspect and process containers entering and leaving the yard, coordinating with office staff as required.
- Conduct physical inventory checks to ensure accurate tracking and management of containers.
- Maintain the yard in a storm-ready condition, ensuring proper stacking and spacing of containers to prevent damage.
- Enforce the container quality program and tag system by inspecting containers on entry and exit, and reporting any issues or defects.
- Ensure office containers are cleaned and maintained to acceptable standards, and promptly transfer containers requiring excessive cleaning or repairs.
- Efficiently repair and clean all out-of-service containers using the Omni View filter to organize work schedules.
- Conduct daily pre-inspections of lift equipment and request service as required, and perform monthly cab cleaning.
- Coordinate with office staff to ensure timely processing of sales orders, and prioritize the loading and unloading of Dry Box trucks.
- Report all accidents, near misses, equipment loss, safety violations, and environmental spills before the end of the shift.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 2+ years of experience working with heavy machinery
- 1+ years of welding experience
- Forklift certification
- Experience working with shipping containers and shipping container repair
