Job Summary

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients and rooms for exams and procedures.
  • Perform basic laboratory testing, point of care testing, phlebotomy, and other quality controls.
  • Administer medications as directed by physician/nurse practitioner.
  • Assist physician/nurse practitioner with exams and procedures.
  • Perform procedures within scope of practice.
  • Accurately document medical information in patient records.
  • Track and route test results to physician(s)/nurse practitioner(s) for review and file results in medical records.
  • Communicate test results to patients when deemed appropriate by physician/nurse practitioner.
  • Facilitate patient care activities, including scheduling ancillary tests, reinforcing patient education, and triaging as appropriate and directed by physician/nurse practitioner.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of medical, office, and pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Demonstrate and maintain professional behavior in accordance with established standards.
  • Timely, concise, and appropriate use of telephone to meet needs of external and internal customers.
  • Perform basic computer skills in using electronic health record proficiently while conducting daily documentation and communications involved in patient care.
  • Process orders appropriately and accurately.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a medical assistant program, or equivalent experience; or
  • Completion of a formal medical services training program of the United States Armed Forces; or
  • For Oregon only: Completion of Basic Oregon Emergency Medical Technician program; or
  • For Oregon only: Completion of Advanced Oregon Emergency Medical Technician program.

Experience

Experience as a back office medical assistant in a clinic setting. One-year experience preferred. Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.

Washington and Oregon-

Current American Heart Association approved CPR certification required.

MA certification required within one year of hire, from either the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or the National Healthcare Association (NHA). AAMA preferred. Certification upon hire preferred. Certification may be required upon hire, depending on the needs of the department.

Oregon Only-

MA certification requirement may be met instead by current Oregon Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) license (Basic or Advanced) and national EMT registration with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (

Washington Only-

Pay Range

USD $23.00 - USD $32.20 /Hr.
