Job Summary

The Procurement Specialist will support business line projects through the cost-effective and efficient procurement of products and services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Utilize enterprise resource planning software (NAVISION or equivalent) to create, process, and receive purchase orders, and catalogue fixed assets in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Purchase items against projects, against stock, or against approved AFEs (i.e. CAPEX), and create and maintain 'on-hire' purchase orders for rental items and contract personnel.
  • Collaborate with Accounts Payable, Tax Department, Operations Manager, and Project Managers to review, approve, and process invoices from sub-contractors, vendors, and suppliers.
  • Evaluate suppliers based on price, quality, and delivery schedule, and interview vendors and visit suppliers' facilities to examine and learn about products, services, and prices.
  • Meet with staff and vendors to discuss defective and/or unacceptable goods and services, and create and participate in internal investigations (Unplanned Occurrence Reports) relative to the faulty or defective products/goods/services.
  • Work with Accounts Payable to ensure accurate and timely payment of invoices.
  • Evaluate and monitor contracts to ensure vendors and suppliers comply with the terms and conditions, and determine the need for change if required.
  • Ensure purchased items meet quality and specification requirements.
  • Maintain and review records of items bought, costs, deliveries, product performance, and inventories.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure consistent delivery and pricing.
  • Stay informed about new products and technologies that can improve procurement processes and reduce costs.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager or Operations Manager.

Qualifications

Essential

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 2+ years' experience in a similar role.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Understanding of at least one of the following markets: hydraulic products, hydraulic services, electrical, offshore pipeline, or industrial LNG.
  • Strong negotiation skills to ensure optimal cost reduction opportunities.
  • Financial acumen and awareness of market prices.
  • Knowledge and understanding of ERP systems and how to use the software to complete tasks.
  • Ability to allocate purchase lines to proper accounting codes.

Preferred

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree or Mechanical Skill/Vocational Certificate.
  • 4+ years' experience in a similar role.
  • Expert knowledge and understanding of ERP software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Experience in creating strategic vendor agreements with a long-term outlook.
  • Understanding of terms and conditions.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting and understand the procurement support function.
