Position Title:
Process Control Engineer

Compensation Range:
$86,800 - $115,700


Individual experience, skills, and capabilities will influence the final placement within the salary range.

Location:
Manufacturing Facility

The Process Control Engineer will take charge of designing, implementing, and refining process control systems in a manufacturing setting.

This role encompasses the development of control strategies, execution of control systems, and ongoing enhancements to optimize efficiency, quality, and safety in production workflows.


Key Responsibilities:

Design and Implementation of Control Systems:
Craft and enhance process control systems to boost efficiency and quality.
Program, configure, and sustain DCS and HMI systems.
Formulate and execute advanced control strategies, including PID, model predictive control, and other control methodologies.

System Performance Optimization:
Oversee and evaluate control system functionality and process data.
Diagnose and resolve issues in process control systems to minimize interruptions and ensure seamless operations.
Refine control loops and system parameters to improve process performance.

Project Leadership:
Lead or engage in process control initiatives, from initial design to commissioning and startup.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, maintenance, and engineering, to achieve project goals.
Assist in project documentation, including P&IDs, control narratives, and system specifications.

Safety and Compliance:
Ensure that control systems adhere to applicable safety and regulatory standards.
Establish and maintain safety instrumented systems.
Participate in risk assessments and safety evaluations.

Continuous Improvement Initiatives:
Champion continuous improvement efforts to advance process control and automation.
Stay informed about the latest developments in process control technologies and practices.
Provide training and support to plant personnel on process control systems and best practices.

Qualifications:

Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, Computer Science, or related disciplines.

Experience:
At least 5 years of experience in process control engineering within a manufacturing or industrial context; 7 years preferred.

Technical Proficiencies:
Expertise in DCS and HMI programming and configuration.
Solid understanding of process control principles, including PID control, advanced process control (APC), and model predictive control (MPC).
Familiarity with control system design tools and software (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink, AutoCAD).
General knowledge of industry standards and regulations (e.g., ISA, IEC, NFPA).
Basic proficiency with Office applications such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.
Prior experience with SAP is advantageous.

Interpersonal Skills:
Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.
Ability to thrive in a team-oriented environment.
Capacity to manage multiple tasks concurrently.

Certifications:
ISA Certified Automation Professional (CAP) or other relevant certifications.
Experience with Honeywell Experion, ABB QCS, or Valmet DNA is preferred but not mandatory.
