Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in psychiatry through our elective rotation program.
Program OverviewOur elective rotation program provides students with the chance to work alongside experienced psychiatrists and mental health professionals in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Rotation Options- Child and Adolescent Psychiatry: Students will participate in the assessment and treatment of children and adolescents with mental health disorders, including ADHD, depression, anxiety, and autism spectrum disorders.
- Adult Psychiatry: Addiction Medicine: Students will learn about the identification, assessment, and treatment of patients with substance-use disorders, including screening and motivational techniques.
- Adult Psychiatry: Students will work on an inpatient psychiatry unit, conducting evaluations, developing treatment plans, and participating in multidisciplinary treatment team discussions.
- Geriatric Psychiatry: Students will assist with admissions, develop differential diagnoses, and participate in daily rounds and discharge planning on the older adult inpatient unit.
Throughout the rotation, students will have the opportunity to develop their clinical skills, work with a diverse patient population, and gain a deeper understanding of the complexities of mental health care.
