The Heavy Equipment Mechanic Inspector (HEMI) plays a crucial role in the daily maintenance operations, focusing on diagnostics, repairs, and inspections of both military and civilian wheeled equipment, including power generation and ground support systems. This position requires collaboration with team members to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

This role is subject to modifications as necessary to align with program or organizational needs.

PRIMARY DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Providing essential support to the maintenance team to uphold high standards of customer service for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conducting inspections, tests, and operational assessments of wheeled equipment (both commercial and military) to evaluate serviceability and functionality.
  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting issues related to wheeled and ground support equipment.
  • Utilizing automated Logistics Information Systems to maintain accurate equipment records and document maintenance activities.
  • Executing the removal, disassembly, repair, cleaning, corrosion treatment, assembly, and reinstallation of components and accessories.
  • Ensuring the proper disposal of hazardous materials and waste in compliance with all applicable environmental regulations.
  • Operating, cleaning, inspecting, and servicing wheeled equipment as part of maintenance operations.
  • Maintaining a clean and organized work environment, adhering to property accountability, Foreign Object Damage prevention, and safety protocols.
  • Engaging with various repair and testing equipment, including Maintenance Support Devices and electrical testers.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned to achieve organizational and operational goals.
  • Job responsibilities may evolve based on contractual obligations.
Qualifications

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Common Access Card (CAC).
  • Possession of a valid State Driver's License; a Commercial Driver's License is preferred.
  • Must maintain driving privileges as required.
  • Successful completion of a pre-employment drug screening is mandatory.
  • Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required, such as a birth certificate or U.S. Passport.

EXPERIENCE:

  • A minimum of three (3) to six (6) years of experience as an inspector for military vehicles.
  • At least three (3) years of experience in a maintenance team leadership role within medium-sized military support organizations or equivalent, with comprehensive knowledge of supply and services.

SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in servicing, troubleshooting, and repairing military and civilian wheeled power generation and ground support equipment.
  • Familiarity with electronic technical manuals is essential.
  • Working knowledge of GCSS-Army is preferred.
