Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Assistant General Manager to join our team at Goldfish Swim School. As a key member of our management team, you will be responsible for overseeing the quality and success of our swim school, ensuring that all daily operations are running smoothly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities
  • Direct and control daily operations to ensure compliance with Goldfish Swim School standard operating procedures.
  • Assist the General Manager and department managers in fulfilling daily tasks and responsibilities.
  • Manage staff to ensure high productivity, excellent performance, and positive employee satisfaction.
  • Oversee employee engagement and maintain a high level of employee satisfaction and company culture.
  • Develop and implement training programs to provide superior swim instruction in accordance with Goldfish Swim School standards.
  • Interact with wet side staff on operational items, including class scheduling, student progress, and customer experience.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot proper pool chemistry and pump room operation.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge and experience in Goldfish Swim School pool operations to ensure a safe and sanitary swim environment.
  • Conduct evaluations and assessments of teachers and trainees.
  • Direct, train, and maintain the implementation of the Emergency Action Plan and all safety procedures.
  • Interact with team members on issues related to class scheduling, student progress, customer service, and employee performance and training.
  • Provide sales and marketing training to qualified sales staff and work with the Marketing Manager to ensure high levels of customer service and sales performance.
  • Direct and oversee the retail and vending departments to ensure a proper mix of products and pricing is achieved.
  • Train and oversee private party staff to ensure that Goldfish Swim School standard operating procedures are being maintained.
  • Work with the General Manager and Marketing Manager to manage social media, book water safety presentations and events, and build partnerships with local businesses.
  • Monitor email, voice messages, and social media to ensure timely and appropriate responses.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge and experience in all technology platforms to achieve a high level of competence in bookings, class scheduling, reporting, and administrative functions.
  • Develop and maintain a high level of knowledge of Goldfish Swim School pool operations to ensure understanding and ability to train front desk staff to sell the program and respond to customer concerns.
  • Initiate and oversee workplace culture and employee interaction to maintain a high level of employee satisfaction.
Requirements

High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in business administration, communications, or equivalent preferred. Experience as a certified lifeguard, youth sports instructor/coach, camp counselor, and/or childcare provider required. Two or more years as a swimming instructor preferred.

Certified Pool Operator and Lifeguard Instructor certifications required. Both certifications must stay up-to-date and current.

Work Environment

While performing this job, the employee is regularly exposed to heat and humidity. Noise level is usually moderate.
