Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinary Technician to join our team at Texas Humane Heroes. As a key member of our medical services team, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional care to animals recovering from spay/neuter surgery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and Care for Recovering Animals: Ensure the safety, well-being, and comfort of animals in our recovery area.
  • Administer Medications: Provide timely and accurate administration of prescribed medications to animals in our care.
  • Provide Post-Operative Care: Offer high-quality medical care, including monitoring vital signs and providing compassionate care to animals with various temperaments.
  • Assist with Surgical Procedures: Support our veterinary team with surgical procedures and ensure a smooth recovery process for animals.
  • Maintain Cleanliness and Sanitation: Ensure the recovery area and overall clinic remain clean, sanitized, and well-maintained.
  • Communicate Effectively: Collaborate with staff, volunteers, and the public to provide exceptional customer service and ensure seamless communication.
Requirements
  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or Equivalent: Strong preference for candidates with CVT certification or equivalent experience.
  • Experience in Veterinary Medicine: Minimum two years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician, preferably in a shelter or adoption center setting.
  • Strong Knowledge of Veterinary Medical Practices: Excellent understanding of veterinary medical practices, procedures, and terminology.
  • Excellent Animal Handling Skills: Ability to handle animals with various temperaments and provide compassionate care.
  • Teamwork and Communication: Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers, and the public.
  • Proficiency in Veterinary Software: Strong proficiency in using veterinary software for record-keeping and scheduling.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Fear Free Certification: Ability to obtain Fear Free certification within 30 days of hire.
