Position: Spay/Neuter Recovery Technician  (Full-time)

Texas Humane Heroes (TXHH) is a private, non-profit organization that offers dog and cat adoptions, as well as provides low cost veterinary services for the public and local animal rescue organizations. TXHH is a dynamic, growth-oriented organization located at 10930 E. Crystal Falls Parkway, Leander, Texas.


Position Overview:


The Texas Humane Heroes’ Spay/Neuter Recovery Technician will understand and be able to communicate Texas Humane Heroes’ mission, vision and goals. As a Spay/Neuter Recovery Technician, you will play a crucial role in the health and well-being of animals in providing post-operative care and monitoring to animals recovering from spay/neuter surgery. You will provide high-quality medical care, assist with surgical procedures and support the overall operations of our adoption center and low-cost veterinary clinic.


Organizational Structure:


Spay/Neuter Recovery Technician reports to the Director of Medical Services.


Key Position Responsibilities:


  • Monitor animals recovering from surgical procedures to ensure their safety, well-being and comfort,
  • Administer medications as prescribed.
  • Providing post-operative care and monitoring vital signs.
  • Assist in the handling and restraint of animals during the recovery process.
  • Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and hygiene in the recovery area and overall clinic.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and the general public.
  • Provide medical care to dogs and cats, including administering medications, vaccinations and treatments.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and ensure all documentation is up to date.
  • Provide compassionate care and handling of animals with various temperaments.
  • Assist with other clinic duties as needed.


Qualifications:


  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
  • Minimum two years of experience working as a Veterinary Technician, preferably in a shelter or adoption center setting.
  • Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices, procedures and terminology.
  • Excellent animal handling skills and a genuine love for animals.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and the general public.
  • Proficiency in using veterinary software for record-keeping and scheduling.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle physically demanding tasks, including lifting and restraining animals.
  • Fear Free certification obtained within 30 days of hire.
