The Surgical Technologist plays a crucial role in ensuring the operating rooms are meticulously prepared for surgical procedures. This position involves executing a range of technical responsibilities to assist patients during surgery while adhering to established departmental protocols, objectives, and safety standards. The Surgical Tech is tasked with fully preparing surgical cases and ensuring all necessary equipment is available. Collaboration with other team members is essential to meet departmental goals while strictly following infection control measures.

Maintaining aseptic techniques is a key responsibility, with the Surgical Technologist actively monitoring for any potential breaches. Additionally, this role includes assisting in the accurate counting of instruments, sutures, and sponges. Providing comfort and support to pre-operative patients is vital, demonstrating a sensitivity to their care and privacy. The Surgical Technologist is also responsible for identifying and managing specimens and promptly notifying the appropriate personnel regarding any equipment malfunctions.

Other duties include assisting in the cleaning of operating room suites and handling human blood and other potentially infectious materials, ensuring compliance with safety protocols. This position encompasses a collaborative responsibility for the treatment and care of patients across all age groups, from pediatrics to geriatrics. The Surgical Technologist operates under the supervision of the Technical Coordinator and reports directly to the Manager/Director of Perioperative Services.


Requirements:
  1. Prior experience as a Surgical Technician.
  2. Current BLS certification.
  3. Completion of a surgical technician training program is preferred.
  4. Proficient in the English language, both verbal and written.
  5. Possesses the physical capabilities, including the ability to lift heavy objects and perceptive acuity (e.g., visual and auditory) necessary to perform assigned tasks effectively.
