About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Scientist to join our team at Neurocrine Biosciences. As a Senior Scientist, you will be responsible for developing and validating biomarker assays to help confirm drug target engagement, understand mechanisms of action and patient response.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and perform robust "fit-for-purpose" clinical biomarker assays
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies to support evolving translational biomarker strategies
  • Collaborate closely with internal pre-clinical and clinical colleagues as well as external partners to deliver translational biomarker strategies for drug development candidates
  • Provide technical guidance on assay validation and serve as a subject matter expert in immunoassay-based assay development and validation
  • Collaborate with external academic and industry experts to expand Neurocrine's knowledge base in biofluid biomarkers
  • Generate and work with complex data sets, with a strong understanding of advanced data analysis and statistical tests
  • Maintain and update SOPs and write data summaries for experiments conducted
  • Review, comprehend, and comply with all SOPs, and safety and quality assurance standards at all times
  • Provide training and/or supervision to junior staff, as needed

Requirements:

  • BS/BA degree and 5+ years of relevant experience, OR
  • MS/MA degree and 3+ years of relevant experience OR
  • PhD or equivalent and some relevant experience; may include postdoc experience
  • Track record of successful implementation of immunoassays, proteomics, and cell-based assays (e.g., flow cytometry) for biomarker discovery using pre-clinical or clinical samples
  • Extensive experience working with tissue samples and/or biofluids
  • Experience with some of these techniques: ELISA, IP, western blotting, flow cytometry, high content imaging, HTRF
  • Experience with managing contract research organizations
  • Hands-on experience with the pros and cons of different biomarker assay platforms (eg. Luminex, MesoScale Discovery and/or SIMOA) is preferred
  • Exosome purification in humans and non-clinical species is a plus
  • Experience working with human biospecimens is a plus

The annual base salary we reasonably expect to pay is $106,400.00-$154,325.00. Individual pay decisions depend on various factors, such as primary work location, complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills. In addition, this position offers an annual bonus with a target of 20% of the earned base salary and eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program. Benefits offered include a retirement savings plan (with company match), paid vacation, holiday and personal days, paid caregiver/parental and medical leave, and health benefits to include medical, prescription drug, dental and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans.
