Role Overview:
The Flooring Installation Lead plays a crucial role in overseeing the installation process from inception to completion. This position involves conducting thorough inspections of job sites prior to installation and liaising with clients to ensure their projects are executed seamlessly. You will be responsible for addressing any issues that may arise and coordinating with various stakeholders, including sales teams and installers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct inspections of substrates to assess their suitability for flooring installation, including moisture and alkaline testing.
- Evaluate existing flooring to ensure compatibility with new installations.
- Identify and assess any residues that may affect the new flooring.
- Inspect wall substrates for defects that could impact installation quality.
- Ensure proper climate control and lighting conditions at the job site.
- Assess site accessibility, including elevators, parking, and loading areas.
- Organize storage for materials delivered to the site.
- Visit job sites pre-installation and during the process to mitigate potential issues.
- Maintain communication with job contacts to promptly address concerns.
- Resolve installation-related challenges throughout the project duration.
- Advise on safety protocols specific to each job site.
- Facilitate resolution of discrepancies between installers and job contacts.
- Inspect materials on-site for defects.
- Communicate project needs to Installation Managers.
- Provide training to installers on-site regarding new products or techniques.
- Deliver necessary materials to expedite project completion.
- Conduct pre-punch inspections immediately after installation.
- Perform post-installation inspections as required.
- Assess job deficiencies and validate their legitimacy.
- Ensure installers have access to up-to-date plans.
- Possess the ability to address punch list items or install materials as needed to finalize projects.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- OSHA 10 Training Certification (minimum); OSHA 30 preferred or willingness to obtain certification.
- Proven knowledge of flooring products and installation techniques.
- Strong mathematical skills, particularly in fractions and measurements.
- Ability to read and comprehend technical documentation.
- Skilled in visually identifying compliance and non-compliance of flooring products.
- Competence in reading and interpreting blueprints.
- Experience with digital reporting for moisture testing and project updates.
- Willingness to work evenings or weekends as necessary.
