Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Senior HIM Specialist to join our team. As a Senior HIM Specialist, you will be responsible for verifying updates, maintaining, and retrieving patient health information in paper and/or electronic format for authorized personnel.


You will also monitor and perform various radiology film library functions, including calling and corresponding with patients and other department staff via in-person, telephone, email, or fax. Additionally, you will prepare, index, and scan protected patient health information documentation in the electronic medical record while ensuring quality.


Responsibilities
  • Verify updates, maintain, and retrieve patient health information in paper and/or electronic format for authorized personnel.
  • Monitor and perform various radiology film library functions, including calling and corresponding with patients and other department staff.
  • Prepare, index, and scan protected patient health information documentation in the electronic medical record while ensuring quality.
  • Monitor, review, verify, merge, correct, and update information concerning patient's medical record numbers and demographic information in the electronic medical record and other established systems.
  • Retrieve, deliver, and re-file patient medical record utilizing the established electronic chart locator system.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years health care experience required. Proof of completed vocational certificate or degree which also supports the domain of the HIM field is required.


OR


High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of health care experience, business, and/or HIM experience in lieu of vocational certificate.


Additional education in HIM, Business or related field which supports the domain of the HIM field may be considered in lieu of experience.
