SUMMARY:

The Materials Management Supervisor collaborates closely with the Material Manager to cultivate vendor relationships and negotiate procurement agreements. This role is essential in acquiring materials necessary for production facilities, contributing to enhancements in manufacturing efficiency, sales performance, and overall cost, quality, and delivery improvements.

Key responsibilities include overseeing raw material processes such as procurement via Kanban systems, implementing the Plan for Every Part (PFEP), optimizing warehouse layouts, and conducting audits to meet production demands across various value streams. The supervisor will also maintain collaborative relationships with the Material Handling and Receiving departments.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The responsibilities encompass, but are not limited to:

  • Fostering and enhancing vendor partnerships.
  • Assisting in the development and execution of cost-saving initiatives with suppliers.
  • Engaging in continuous improvement projects within Purchasing and Shipping/Receiving departments.
  • Coordinating supplier-managed inventory programs and Kanban implementations.
  • Collaborating with Product Engineering on new product introductions and engineering modifications.
  • Supporting plant-level materials personnel with vendor and material challenges.
  • Managing expediting processes, including formal requests from Customer Service and inquiries regarding overdue orders.
  • Preparing purchase orders and inventory requisitions, ensuring accuracy in specifications and pricing.
  • Overseeing daily release management and execution of Kanban card processes.
  • Conducting regular analyses to identify and mitigate potential issues.
  • Mentoring junior buyers in purchasing activities, including supplier and internal communications.
  • Reporting purchasing and inventory metrics during team meetings.
  • Collaborating with Customer Service to resolve customer request issues.
  • Managing Make-to-Order (MTO) and sequence purchase order processing.
  • Handling late reports and managing visual tools.
  • Coordinating milk run schedules and deliveries.
  • Processing monthly supplier forecast reports and adjusting Kanban quantities accordingly.
  • Overseeing packaging visual management systems and central storage.
  • Generating various purchasing and incident reports.
  • Maintaining SAP and Access purchasing data files.
  • Assisting production in identifying home locations and customizing warehouse layouts through PFEP.
  • Supervisory responsibilities include managing employee time cards, conducting performance reviews, and ensuring adherence to company standards.
  • Other related functions may be assigned as necessary.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in procurement, inventory management, material handling, or related fields.
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Preferred Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Experience with SAP (ERP) systems.
