Aftermarket Apprentice Program OverviewThe Aftermarket Apprentice Program (AAP) is designed to provide selected candidates with a unique opportunity to blend practical work experience, on-the-job training, and classroom education. This program aims to equip apprentices with the necessary skills to support customers post-product delivery while developing a proficient workforce for G&W Electric.
Upon completing the apprenticeship, a review will be conducted to assess departmental needs and determine the most suitable permanent position for the apprentice.
Program DurationThe apprenticeship lasts for one year, during which approximately 168 out of 250 working days will involve on-the-job training in various work cells. The remaining time will be dedicated to training alongside product support specialists, field service technicians, and the RGA team.
At the conclusion of the year-long program, apprentices will return to their designated work cell and be available for an AMS position.
Key Responsibilities- Manage assigned cases through SFDC until resolution, collaborating with technical and commercial resources as needed.
- Provide technical support to customers and sales representatives via phone and email, ensuring clear communication.
- Work with the Product Support Administrator to process orders for parts replacements and manage RMAs for returned goods.
- Initiate Upgrade/Retrofit projects as required.
- Coordinate customer inquiries with technical resources within the company to resolve reported issues, documenting discussions and action items.
- Generate CIIs for recurring or critical safety issues.
- Participate in after-hours support rotations with other Product Support Specialists.
- Contribute to New Product Development teams, representing the Aftermarket Support Plan.
As an apprentice, you agree to:
- Perform diligently in aftermarket and related responsibilities as assigned by G&W Electric.
- Respect company property and adhere to all rules and policies.
- Attend and successfully complete required classroom hours and related instruction, achieving a grade of 'C' or better in all coursework.
- Maintain accurate records of work experience and training received.
- Associate's Degree in Electronics or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication skills to effectively influence at all organizational levels.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and reassess as necessary.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications.
- Willingness to travel as needed, potentially on short notice, with travel requirements up to 10% of the time.
- Maintain focus on results amidst changing conditions, demonstrating urgency and confidence in handling various challenges.
Apprentices will attend classes on designated days, with on-the-job training primarily occurring during first shift hours.
Educational AssistanceAny external coursework required will be provided through the educational assistance program, adhering to all relevant policies.
Attendance PolicyRegular attendance at all classes is mandatory, as outlined in the course syllabus. Progression in the program is contingent upon maintaining a good attendance record.
Repayment RequirementsRepayment guidelines will be established by the Educational Assistance Program.
