Job Overview

Position Summary: The Town of Falmouth is seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to fill the role of Lead Wastewater Engineering Manager. This pivotal position involves overseeing wastewater management initiatives and supporting the Wastewater Superintendent in the operational and technical aspects of the Wastewater Division within our Department of Public Works.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and coordinate wastewater planning, permitting, design, and construction projects.
  • Assist in the development and execution of Comprehensive Wastewater Management Plans and Watershed Management Plans across various watersheds.
  • Oversee the creation of project scopes and manage the procurement process in compliance with public procurement regulations.
  • Review and manage contracts, monitor budgets and timelines, and evaluate engineering plans related to wastewater projects.
  • Support the Wastewater Superintendent in ensuring that projects are completed efficiently and meet all contractual obligations.
  • Maintain comprehensive records of wastewater projects and prepare reports to ensure compliance with state regulations.
  • Deliver presentations on Wastewater Division activities at community meetings and public forums.
  • Review private project plans and permits for wastewater connections and modifications.
  • Contribute to the enhancement of the Wastewater Division's safety program to ensure a safe working environment.

Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with a focus on environmental issues, environmental engineering, or a related discipline, along with five years of progressively responsible experience in wastewater or utility system design, planning, management, and operations is required. Experience in municipal settings and familiarity with planning and permitting processes is preferred.

The ideal candidate will possess strong project management, organizational, and computer skills, along with the ability to work independently on long-term planning initiatives. Effective communication skills are essential for conveying wastewater principles and projects to diverse audiences, including the general public and regulatory bodies. Candidates should be adept at preparing and reviewing technical documentation and interacting with individuals from various backgrounds.

Compensation: The expected starting salary range is between Step 1 ($89,752/year) and Step 4 ($99,236/year), based on qualifications and experience, with opportunities for advancement within the pay scale. A comprehensive benefits package is included, featuring paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, health insurance contributions, and retirement plan options.
