Job Summary

The Childrens Hospital Of The Kings Daughter is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner to join our team as an Internal Traveler. This 13-week assignment will provide the opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, delivering high-quality patient care and contributing to the success of our Respiratory Care team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patient condition and develop a comprehensive respiratory care plan, collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
  • Administer diagnostic tests and procedures, including blood gas sampling and interpretation, oxygen saturation, and end-tidal carbon dioxide measurement.
  • Respond to respiratory emergencies, such as cardiopulmonary arrest and trauma activations, and maintain artificial airways and provide mechanical ventilation as needed.
  • Initiate patient and caregiver teaching, ensuring a smooth transition of care and promoting patient empowerment.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of patient care, treatments, and responses to therapy.
Requirements
  • Current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care.
  • American Heart Association (AHA) certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
  • American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
  • Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training.
  • Associate degree in respiratory care/therapy and 2 years of pediatric experience, including experience in the PICU and/or NICU.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor degree in respiratory care/therapy or related field.
Working Conditions

Expected to work in a patient care environment with minimal exposure to environmental hazards. Exposure to communicable diseases and moderately adverse working conditions due to the need to perform certain patient care activities can be expected.
