The analyst will engage in commercial evaluations, including competitor analysis, project assessments, budgeting, forecasting, service scheduling, and market share analysis. Additionally, the role involves creating clear and persuasive presentations for various stakeholders, including internal teams, clients, and senior management.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Market Research in Supply Chain & Transportation:

  • Exhibit creativity and organization while working towards defined objectives.
  • Identify public and private information sources to gain insights into market trends, customer behaviors, product offerings, routes, and competitor activities, aiming to assess FEC's current market share and develop effective go-to-market strategies.
  • Collaborate with the AVP of Commercial Analytics to outline actionable strategies for expanding the company's market presence as part of the broader commercial strategy.

2. Pricing Strategy Development:

  • Acquire in-depth knowledge of FEC's active routes and services. Establish pricing levels based on financial analysis, logistics trends, market indices, competitor pricing, and volume considerations.
  • Collaborate closely with FEC's logistics consulting team to develop and provide intermodal pricing for both existing and potential clients.
  • Communicate FEC's revenue requirements to Class 1 Railroads for joint-line pricing.
  • Utilize costing software to determine intermodal costs for pricing strategies.
  • Manage and publish pricing contracts, quotations, and tariffs.
  • Support FEC's Customer Service and Accounts Receivable teams with inquiries related to misroutes, diversions, and routing issues.

3. Commercial Analysis:

  • Conduct thorough commercial analyses and prepare professional presentations in a timely and accurate manner.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

  • A Bachelor's degree in Marketing or a related field from an accredited institution; an MBA is preferred.
  • Familiarity with the logistics industry and the competitive landscape affecting intermodal, trucking, and rail services is advantageous.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking capabilities.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and SAS.
  • Ability to perform data queries, data mining, and understand relational databases of both internal and external data sources.
  • Capacity to analyze data findings to identify issues and propose solutions.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Self-motivated with a focus on critical thinking and process enhancement.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including executives and clients.
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently with flexibility as required.
  • Strong computer and analytical skills, particularly with MS Office, database management, CRM software, and dashboard applications.

Work Environment:

The role is primarily office-based, with occasional visits to customer locations or job sites. Some travel may be required, including potential night or weekend commitments.
