About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Dietary Aide to join our team at Villa at Rose City. As a Dietary Aide, you will play a vital role in ensuring that our residents receive high-quality food service in a caring environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist with food preparation, serving, and cleaning duties to maintain a clean and safe food service environment.
  • Develop and maintain a good working relationship with inter-departmental personnel and other departments within the facility to ensure that food service is properly maintained.
  • Attend and participate in in-services as directed to stay up-to-date on food service procedures and policies.
  • Serve meals that are palatable and appetizing in appearance, and assist in serving meals as necessary and on a timely basis.
  • Assist in daily or scheduled cleaning duties, including cleaning worktables, meat blocks, refrigerators/freezers, and sweeping and mopping floors.
  • Wash and clean utensils as directed, and set up meal trays, food carts, dining room, serving, etc., as instructed.
  • Distribute and collect menus as necessary, and serve food in dining room as instructed.
  • Remove food trays from carts, dining rooms, etc., and take to dishwashing area.
  • Prepare snacks as assigned, and prepare foods in accordance with sanitary regulations and established policies and procedures.
  • Assist in preparation for special meals, parties, etc., and ensure that safety regulations and precautions are followed at all times by all personnel.
  • Complete daily or scheduled cleaning duties in accordance with established policies and procedures, and ensure that the department is maintained in a clean and safe manner.
  • Report all hazardous conditions/equipment to the Dietary Director/Dietician immediately, and report all accidents/incidents to Supervisor on shift.
  • Assist in maintaining food storage areas in a clean and properly arranged manner at all times, and report missing/illegible labels or MSDS's to Dietary Director/Dietician.
Requirements
  • Ability to plan and adapt policies and procedures relating to food service.
  • Strong organizational skills, and ability to relate positively, effectively, and appropriately with residents, families, community members, volunteers, and other facility staff.
  • Possess special interest in, and a positive attitude about, working with long-term care residents and the elderly.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English, and meet all health requirements as required by law.
  • Demonstrates basic computer knowledge and ability with an aptitude to learn company applications.
Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in industrial food production preferred, and prior experience working in a long-term care facility a plus.
Environmental and Physical Requirements
  • Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, extended sitting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, all with or without the aid of mechanical devices is required.
  • Meet all health requirements as needed, and understand and adhere to company safety standards and protocols.
