Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician II to join our team at UIC Alaska. As a key member of our facilities maintenance team, you will be responsible for ensuring the functional integrity and safety of our mechanical systems in all commercial and residential facilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Builds, Repairs, and Installs: counters, cabinets, benches, partitions, floors, doors, building framework, and other related structures.
  • Performs Roof Work and Repairs: ensures the integrity of our facilities' roofs and makes necessary repairs to prevent damage.
  • Troubleshoots and Repairs Boiler Systems: identifies and resolves issues with our boiler systems to ensure safe and efficient operation.
  • Installs and Replaces: glass in windows, doors, and other fixtures, as well as ceiling tiles, floor tiles, and wall panels.
  • Performs Interior Dry Wall Tasks and Painting: ensures the interior of our facilities are well-maintained and visually appealing.
  • Performs Preventive Maintenance: conducts regular maintenance tasks to prevent equipment failure and ensure the smooth operation of our facilities.
  • Maintains Open and Responsive Communication: works closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and reports any incidents or issues that may affect the Corporation's ability to operate safely and efficiently.
Requirements
  • Ability to Speak Effectively: communicates clearly and effectively with tenants, employees, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to Apply Mathematical Concepts: applies concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to Deal with Problems: identifies and resolves problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Physical Demands: frequently reaches with hands and arms, climbs or balances, and stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
  • Lifting and Moving: regularly lifts and/or moves up to 100 pounds.
  • Work Environment: regularly works near moving mechanical parts and in outside weather conditions, and is regularly exposed to extreme cold.
Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: one year certificate from college or technical school, or 1-2 years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in the North Slope Region: two to three years increasingly responsible experience in the North Slope Region and with facilities maintenance and repair.
  • Valid Alaska Driver's License: must have a valid Alaska Driver's License, preferably Commercial Driver's License.
