Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Technician to join our team at Norton Sound Health Corporation. As a Maintenance Technician, you will be responsible for providing skilled maintenance and complex repair work on our remote village clinics, hospital site, and campus grounds.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform high-level preventive and corrective maintenance on physical plant equipment, including HVAC systems, electrical and plumbing systems, and high and low pressure oil fired water and steam boilers.
  • Test equipment using safety analyzers, volt meters, ohm meters, amp meters, and special hand tools.
  • Inspect, calibrate, adjust, clean, and lubricate mechanical and electrical controls, valves, gauges, timing devices, and meters.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and develop correction plans.
  • Travel to village clinics to perform routine maintenance on equipment, troubleshoot, and coordinate solutions between the Nome-based operations and the villages.
  • Train and mentor junior-level engineers and technicians on complex preventive maintenance and repair work.
Requirements
  • 1 year of working experience in maintenance.
  • High School Diploma.
  • Valid AK Driver's License.
  • One year of Vocational/Technical College preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 5 years of experience.
  • HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Boiler Operator Class III.
  • EPA 608 Certification.
Working Conditions
  • Work is conducted in an office environment and in a standard clinical environment.
  • Work is sometimes in confined spaces and in areas of high noise and/or high/low temperatures.
  • Incumbent works with common chemicals and will be exposed to associated hazards typically found in maintenance shops.
  • Seldom travel may be required (up to 25% of the time).
