Position Overview:

The LAR/CPL Support Technician plays a crucial role in the provision of veterinary support within a laboratory setting. This position involves a variety of responsibilities aimed at ensuring the health and well-being of laboratory animals while assisting in research protocols.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary responsibilities of the LAR/CPL Support Technician include:

  • Administering anesthesia to a diverse range of animal patients, including small pets, large animals, and exotic species.
  • Collaborating with research teams to gather and relay essential information regarding ongoing research protocols.
  • Providing comprehensive anesthetic support throughout the surgical process, from pre-operative sedation to post-operative recovery.
  • Conducting various technical procedures such as IV catheter placements, venipuncture, and emergency interventions.
  • Maintaining accurate records of all patient care and anesthetic procedures, ensuring compliance with institutional standards.
  • Delivering high-quality patient care by utilizing knowledge of animal anatomy, pharmacology, and disease management.
  • Overseeing and mentoring veterinary students and interns in best practices for patient care and technical procedures.
  • Ensuring a clean and safe working environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Qualifications:

To be considered for this position, candidates should possess:

  • Completion of an accredited veterinary technician training program or equivalent experience.
  • Proficiency in anesthesia administration and familiarity with both small and large animal care.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to maintain professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Capacity to lift up to 60 pounds and work effectively as part of a team.
  • A valid driver's license and the ability to obtain necessary certifications within specified timeframes.
