Assistant Professor of Asian American Studies

We are seeking a highly qualified Assistant Professor of Asian American Studies to join our department. The successful candidate will have a strong research and teaching profile in the area of war and critical militarisms, with a focus on settler colonialism and empire. The position is tenure-track and will begin on July 1, 2025.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses on critical militarisms, the transpacific, indigenous studies, state-sanctioned anti-Asian violence, Filipinx studies, SWANA studies, and community-engaged social justice projects. They will also be expected to contribute to the department's research and teaching initiatives, and to engage in departmental and university service as appropriate to rank.
Requirements
To be considered for this position, applicants must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree in a relevant field. They should have a strong publication profile or a strong promise of scholarly productivity, and a strong commitment to excellence in teaching the undergraduate level curriculum in Asian American Studies. Candidates should also show commitment to departmental and university collaboration as appropriate to rank.

Applicants should submit a letter of application including a statement of research and teaching interests, a curriculum vitae, names and contact information for three referees, a statement of contributions to diversity, a writing sample, two syllabi, and teaching evaluations from two recent courses. The Asian American Studies Department is an interdisciplinary community of scholars that spans the social sciences, humanities, and arts. We offer an undergraduate major and minor, and collaborate with various centers and institutes on- and off-campus focused on community-engaged approaches to manifest and promote social justice. We are committed to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all students, faculty, and staff.
